Valentine's day Google trick to surprise your Girl Friend

If you are a romantic Mathematics geek then your girl-friend will surely like this gift on Valentine’s day. All you have to do is to type this equation in Google-
sqrt(cos(x))*cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)*(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5
I found that trick on Mashable. This trick was given to Mashable by Twitter user @Huckberry.Typing in the algebraic equation plots several different functions on a graph that forms the shape of a heart.
The series includes various square roots, absolute values and cosine functions — mathematical functions often taught in high school math courses. The plotted lines change direction due to the absolute value function flipping the sign of the x-coordinate, creating a mirror image across the y-axis.
The “cos(300x)” part of the formula was also written to make the line go quickly up and down as it traces out the interior of the heart. This creates the colored-in effect. Meanwhile, if you change the “300 number in the equation to “500,” the color fills up the heart. That part of the formula is related to frequency.
Although the equation wasn’t written by Google, this is not the first time users have been able to type in certain keywords into search for a seasonal surprise. For example, type “Do a barrel roll” in Google and your entire webpage will start rolling and the word “askew” into Google the entire page will be titled and words will get distorted.

Google's Drive to take on Dropbox

Cloud Computing is probably the hottest trend today and Google has trying its hands on it also. Google will soon be launching Drive which will go head to head with the famous Dropbox. Dropbox currently gives 2GB storage space to its users and for more space they will have to pay. Drive will offer more space than Dropbox. According to Wall Street Journal, "Drive allows people to store photos, documents and videos on Google's servers so that they could be accessible from any Web-connected device and allows them to easily share the files with others, these people said. If a person wants to email a video shot from a Smartphone, for instance, he can upload it to the Web through the Drive mobile app and email people a link to the video rather than a bulky file."
Drive, which is expected to be launched in the coming months, will be free for most consumers and business, with a premium service offered to those who want to store a large amount of files.
This is something Google can excel in because the company is well-seasoned when it has to do with running cloud services. Just think, products like GMail and GDocs work almost flawlessly in the cloud. In fact, you can argue that no one does cloud better than Google at this point. It also is in control of Android, so think about how deep it could integrate a cloud service into that platform.

Google's expected GDrive was first rumored around 2007, then resurfaced in 2009 after a reference to "Google Web Drive" was discovered in a collection of Google desktop programs. In September 2011, TechCrunch reported that Google Drive was launching "for real this time."

Google was unavailable for comment early Thursday.

Google releases Chrome for Android users

Google has finally released Google chrome for Android users. But don’t get excited if you are not an ICS user. Yes, Chrome is available for IceCream Sandwich users only and that also in specific countries. This Android Browser is in BETA stage and available for the ICS users residing in U.S., Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil can download this browser from the Android Market.
The browser, first unveiled in 2008, will be available on tablets and mobile phones using the company's "Ice Cream Sandwich" Android software, Sundar Pichai, a senior vice president in charge of Chrome and applications, said in a blog posting.
Google hasn’t compromised with this browser and it is having all the features of its desktop version.
The company aims to improve the speed of mobile browsing by preloading top search results and enabling users to get the same tabs and bookmarks they have on their desktops.
"Chrome for Android is designed from the ground up for mobile devices," Pichai said. The software is "focused on speed and simplicity, but it also features seamless sign-in and sync so you can take your personalized Web browsing experience with you wherever you go, across devices."
Chrome for Android Beta also features the ability to sync with the seamless sign-in that allows you to take your personalized web browsing experience with you, wherever you go, no matter what device. It also has tabbed browsing and loads your top search results in the background while you type, speeding up your search experience.  The downside to Google’s Chrome is that you won’t have the choice to use this new browser unless you have a brand new Android 4.0 device, or one of the lucky devices that has managed to receive an upgrade.
The desktop version of Google Chrome is extremely popular among the users. It’s ICS version is also expected to be a hit among the users.
Do you have an ICS device? If you’ve managed to test out Google Chrome on ICS for yourself, let us know what you think of the experience. Is it as good as Google hypes it to be or does it end up falling short?

Major change made by Google in blogspot blogs

Google has made a significant change in blogger. Previously all blogger blogs were having a domain name as abc.blogspot.com like this blog was having domain name www.gadgetsmaniac4u.blogspot.com but now users visiting blogger blogs will be automatically redirected to their country specific domain for example if you are visiting this blog from India, you will see blog address as www.gadgetsmaniac4u.blogspot.in and if you are visiting it from UK then you will see the address as www.gadgetsmaniac4u.blogspot.co.uk. But Don’t worry if you are hosting your custom blog on blogger then you won’t be affected by it.
Now the question is why is Google doing this? According to a recently added help page to “continue promoting free expression and responsible publishing while providing greater flexibility in complying with valid removal requests pursuant to local law”. Google explains the move with greater content removal flexibility as they can now manage those removals on a per country base to limit the “impact to the smallest number of readers” as content removed “due to a specific country’s law will only be removed from the relevant ccTLD”.
As far as I am concerned I don’t like this move by Google. It will create confusion among webmasters and visitors. Visitors may think the site has been moved or they are being redirected due to some sort of virus, because they haven’t seen any abc.blogspot.in or abc .blogspot.co.uk site before. For webmasters they might not lose traffic from Google but traffic coming from Yahoo, Bing or MSN may be adversely affected. Also bloggers may lose indexed pages by search engines other than Google.
Well, we can’t do anything against this move by Google. Just want to tell my users don’t get confused when you see a blogspot blog redirected to your country specific domain. This change is effective from past 4-5 days. Till now my blog’s traffic is not effected but we will have to wait for some more time before coming to any conclusion.

Does Google have an answer for iBooks?

All of us know Apple recently launched its latest version of  iBook. IBook 2.0 has a lot to be discussed about. First of all,it is having some great features.iBook2.0 allows you to make slideshows of pictures in book. You can make notes by simply highlighting the text in the book and can access all the notes at one place.
IBook was the dream of Steve Jobs and he also said that iPads are having the capabilities to obsolete paper books. The textbooks are specifically optimized for iPads and are having a cost $14.99 or less. Since the students have to pay much more than this on buying their course books, this app can be handy for them. iBook 2.0 is set to revolutionize the class rooms.Ibook2.0 truly gives a glimpse of future class rooms.
This app currently are available for the students for US only and Apple has tied up with major publishers like Houghton Mifflin, McGraw Hill and Pearson. These three companies alone hold 90% stake in text book production. So students won’t have a problem to find their favorite book. Along with iBook 2.0 Apple also launched iBook Author which allows people to write their own book.
Apple unveiled these apps on Thursday in New York. Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of world-wide marketing said "These are beautiful books. Interactive, gorgeous, fun, engaging,"
Now the question arises Does Google have an answer for iBook? iPad which is already a popular brand among people and people often prefer iPads over Android Tablets, iBook can make the situation worse for tablets powered by Android. All of us know Android tablets doesn’t provide a good reading experience and iPad being already a study tool among students launch of iBooks is not a good news for Google. It may result in decrease in Android Tablets sales specially among students. It will be interesting to see what Google will bring to tackle iBooks?

LG to launch Google TV next week

LG Electronics Inc said on Friday it would unveil its first Google TV next week, joining Sony Corp and Samsung Electronics Co in partnering with the search giant to get a foothold in the emerging Internet TV market.

Google hopes to replicate the success of its Android mobile software in the TV market, but its attempt to conquer the living room has seen limited success so far due to a lack of web content and support from hardware manufacturers. So this may not be a good step by LG since Sony and Samsung didn't get any success from Google TV.

Google TV allows consumers to access online videos and websites on their TVs, as well as specialised apps such as video games. Currently it comes built-in on certain Sony television models and Samsung is also working with the US firm to launch Google TVs.

LG said on Friday it would introduce its first Google TV next week at the annual Consumer Electronics Show(CES) in Las Vegas.

Google said on its blog that chipmaker Marvell Technology Group, chip designer MediaTek and TV manufacturer Vizio were also new partners for its Google TV service.

Grappling with slowing demand and cutthroat competition, TV manufacturers hope forays into the Internet TV market will help cushion squeezed margins.

Research firm Display Search expects the global TV market to grow only 2 per cent this year after no growth in 2011 due to soft consumer demand amid a weak global economy.

Google celebrating Christmas with 'jingle bells' music

It's time for Christmas and Google has come up with an interactive doodle on the eve of Christmas, playing the celebration tune of 'jingle Bells'. Making the 'Happy Holidays' Google doodle musical and interactive, Google wishes us Merry Christmas, bringing us in a festive mood.
The happy holidays doodle has six glowing buttons. Each button plays a sound from the musical notes of 'jingle bells', when we click on it. Once we click on all the six buttons, it shows a button with a musical note. When we click on this musical note button, it plays 'jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way'.
This year's Google happy holidays doodle is made up of lit up holiday symbols - snowflake, Santa Claus, bell, snowman, candle and a gift box - on a dark background, symbolizing the night sky. The Google logo appears as a faint outline behind the holiday icons.
Google has been wishing its users with a pre-Christmas doodle for the last 10 years. In 2010 Google has put up a doodle of interactive portraits of holiday scenes from around the world. Before 2010, Google used multiple doodles for the holiday season.
Google recently announced the revamp of its Doodle site (www.google.com/doodles) which houses all Google doodles since the very first back in 1998.
Google has put up as many as 259 doodles on its home page in 2011 commemorating different events of importance across the world. Some of the doodles are limited to Google's country specific home pages while others are appearing globally.

Google to launch its first tablet next year

Apple’s biggest rival Google is trying to make things worse for Apple. Apple’s sales has shown big downfall since the launch of Android and now Android now rules the market with more than 51% of total smart phone share. Google’s chairman Eric Schmidt has revealed than Google is planning to to launch its Android tablet in the next six month. This was expected from Google since the acquisition of Motorola for $12.5 billion.
In the words to Eric Schmidt” In the next six months we plan to market a tablet of the highest quality” Eric told an Italian newspaper.
Google has already has a hand in the development of the Motorola Tablet-Motorola Xoom. But the tablet market is purely dominated by iPad and apart from Amazon’s Kindle no one has been able to offer some competition to iPad.
In the interview with the Newspaper Eric paid tribute to Steve Jobs telling that ”Steve Jobs was the Michelangelo of our time.A friend of mine and a unique character, able to combine creativity and visionary genious with an extraordinary engineering ability.”He further added ”Steve realized the revolutionary potential of the tablet and created an amazing product like the iPad.”He also said that in the upcoming time the competition between the Android smartphones and iPhone will be brutal.
It will be interesting to see iPad3 and Google Tablet go head on head next year as Icecream Sandwich now is also having an effective voice commanding feature like SIRI which is quite fast and accurate.

Let it snow trick from Google

Internet giant Google has added a seasonal touch to its search engine, where all of a sudden a snow storm hits the screen on typing 'let it snow'. This can be considered as a gift on the eve of Easter. Just open google.com and type in those three magical words when you visit Google and you'll be treated to a new Easter egg.

Snowflakes will fall from the top of your screen and slowly cover Google's search results with a light coating of snow.
Use your cursor as an ice scraper to draw in the "frosted glass" effect, or click on the search "Defrost" button, The Washington Post reports.
This is perhaps the coolest Google search trick since "do a barrel roll," which produces a vintage video-game effect. So what are you waiting for, just go to google and try this out.
